PeriWinks has been in business since 1980. The company was based in Santa Barbara from 1980 until 1996, when I moved to Coarsegold. For years my line has been in upscale shops and boutiques in Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo, Atascadero, Cambria, Santa Maria and San Francisco.

PeriWinks was born one day as my two-year-old daughter and I walked past an exclusive children’s shop in Santa Barbara. When I stopped to look in the store window, the owner came out and asked, “Where did you buy that dress your daughter is wearing?” I said that I had made the dress. She then asked if she could buy the dress. I said no, but that I would be happy to make one just like for her. From that point on, I began to create and sew many dresses and other children’s outfits for her little shop and others. The rest is history.

Many of my creations are one-of-a-kind, since that keeps it interesting for me and allows me to use my creativity. I have two children, a boy and a girl, and I made most of their clothes. Now that they are grown and gone, I look forward to sewing for my future (I hope) grandchildren some day.
